Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Leaves With Injury Early in First Quarter vs Bills

The legendary quarterback suffered an apparent injury early in his highly anticipated New York debut.

A highly-anticipated Jets debut took an abrupt detour for Aaron Rodgers on Monday Night Football after the star quarterback exited in the first quarter against the Bills due to injury.

New York ruled Rodgers, 39, out for the remainder of the game midway through the second quarter due to a left ankle injury he suffered on New York’s opening drive. The team also confirmed Rodgers’s X-rays came back negative, confirming the 19-year veteran avoided a fracture.

With the Jets driving downfield, Rodgers, who went 0–of–1 to start the game, went down in a heap after taking a sack from Bills pass rusher Leonard Floyd on the fourth play of New York’s first drive of the night.

After hobbling upon standing to his feet, Rodgers was helped to the Jets sideline for an evaluation. The Jets later brought out a cart to take Rodgers to the locker room, where he was fitted with a walking boot.

Backup QB Zach Wilson filled in for Rodgers to finish the drive, a five-play, 34-yard series that ended with a punt.
