Texans FB Returned a Kickoff 85 Yards for Unlikeliest TD of NFL Season
Andrew Beck likely did not think he would score a touchdown entering the Texans’ game on Sunday against the Jaguars.
However, that’s exactly what the Houston fullback did in the Texans special teams unit. Jacksonville’s Brandon McManus booted a 55-yard kick to the Texans’ 10. After Beck initially muffed the catch, he obtained possession of the ball from Houston’s 15-yard line and dashed toward the right sideline before outrunning multiple Jacksonville defenders for an 85-yard touchdown return.
Beck’s score gave the Texans a 24-10 advantage with 3:19 to play in the third quarter. Prior to his score in Sunday’s game, the former Texas product had only recorded one touchdown in his five-year NFL career, dating back to his days in a Broncos’ uniform in 2019.
Beck signed a two-year contract with the Texans in March after spending four seasons in Denver. If Houston holds on to defeat Jacksonville, Beck will be able to celebrate his team’s first win of the season as well as his first touchdown as member of the Texans’ organization.
