Joe Namath Doesn’t Hold Back With Criticism of Zach Wilson
Jets quarterback Zach Wilson struggled in the team’s Week 3 loss against the Patriots, and it seems franchise legend Joe Namath is running out of patience with the young signal caller.
During a Monday appearance on The Michael Kay Show, Namath ripped into Wilson, suggesting that he would be ready to move on from the 24-year-old if he were calling the shots in New York. Namath also criticized his performance in the loss against New England, describing it as “disgusting.”
“No, I didn’t take anything positive out of it yesterday. It was awful,” said Namath.
When asked what he’d do to help Wilson improve, Namath said he’d trade him to the Chiefs to serve as the backup to Patrick Mahomes.
“I wouldn’t keep him. I’ve seen enough of Zach Wilson,” declared Namath.
“I don’t believe in Zach. I don’t believe he has a future," he added. "I think they made the wrong choice when they drafted him.”
On Monday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh stated the team was committed to Wilson as its starting quarterback, claiming the former No. 2 pick gave the team the best chance of winning.
In addition to his rant on Monday’s radio appearance, Namath was also critical of Wilson on social media during Sunday’s game.
Wilson appeared to lack confidence during the loss in Week 3. He completed 18-of-36 pass attempts for 157 yards but did not throw a touchdown or interception.
