Raiders’ Chandler Jones Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge in Las Vegas
Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones was arrested Thursday in Las Vegas on two domestic violence charges, according to Clark Country Detention Center records.
Jones allegedly violated a temporary protective order, according to jail records. No further details about Jones’s arrest have been given by local police at this time, but he remains in custody as of Friday morning PT after having been arrested at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday night. His bail was listed at $15,000, according to jail records.
Jones, 33, has been away from the Raiders since the start of the season with what the franchise has repeatedly referred to as a “personal issue.” The team placed him on the non-football illness list on Sept. 20 but reportedly did not rule out a possible return this season should his status change.
“The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs,” the team said in a statement. “He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment.”
The NFL also released a brief statement on the matter, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero: “We have been closely monitoring the matter and have been in constant communication with the Raiders.”
Jones has drawn attention to the situation with a number of bizarre and upsetting social media posts, some of which directly named and criticized Raiders owner Mark Davis, general manager Dave Ziegler and coach Josh McDaniels.
On Monday, he wrote on social media that he had been held at a hospital “against my will” by the Las Vegas Fire Department before being transferred to a behavioral health center late last week.
