Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase Motivated by Perceived Slight From Seahawks’ DK Metcalf
Ahead of their matchup on Sunday, it looks like there will be plenty of bulletin board material for Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase after Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf made a bold prediction.
During a press conference, Metcalf was asked what he appreciates about Chase’s game and showed some love to the former All-Pro’s ability to catch long-balls. However, he said his teammate cornerback Devon Witherspoon will lock Chase up.
“I think Spoon [Witherspoon] will get the best of him,” Metcalf said about the matchup.
Chase clearly saw the message and reposted it on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. It appears fair to say Chase is keeping receipts.
The Bengals’ two-time Pro Bowler is coming off his best game of the season after catching 15 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns in his team’s win over the Cardinals in Week 5. Going into Week 6, Chase is second in the NFL in receiving yards (476) and catches (22).
Witherspoon, a rookie selected with the No. 5 pick in the 2023 draft out of Illinois, has hit the ground running. He’s already tallied a pick-six, two sacks, and 23 tackles to start his career, making this matchup must-watch football.
Kick off is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
