The Colts will be without defensive tackle Grover Stewart for at least six games after he was suspended by the NFL due to a violation of the league’s policy against performance-enhancing drugs.

Stewart acknowledged the suspension on Tuesday on his Instagram story, in which he apologized to the league, his teammates, and fans in Indianapolis for violating the PED policy.

Stewart said that he was unaware of taking any banned substances, but accepted responsibility for his mistake.

“I want to apologize to the National Football League, the Colts organization, my teammates, our fans, and my family. I was surprised and disappointed to learn I had violated the policy. I respect the integrity of the game and would never purposefully put the team in this kind of situation. I am responsible for what I put in my body, and I should have taken the proper steps to educate myself. I will learn from this moving forward, and I will take the appropriate measures to ensure this never happens again,” wrote Stewart on his Instagram story.

The 29-year-old is in his seventh season with the Colts. He’s started all six games this season, and has started 70 games across 102 appearances during his career. In ‘23, Stewart has recorded 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, and five QB hits.

The six-game suspension means Stewart’s next chance to play for Indianapolis will be on Dec. 10 against the Bengals, all the way in Week 14. The Colts have a bye in Week 11.
