Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons is ready to join Team USA’s flag football team for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

During a Tuesday episode of The Edge with Micah Parsons podcast, the two-time Pro Bowler said he would be joining the team with hopes of winning a gold medal.

“I’m going on the U.S. Team,” Parsons said. “I’m gonna go win an Olympic gold medal because I can’t do it in track and I can’t do it anything else but I know I can play some flag football. I think I might be playing offense for the guys."

On Monday, the International Olympic Committee approved flag football as one of five sports—along with cricket, baseball-softball, lacrosse and squash—that will be included in the ’28 Summer Games. It marks the first time that flag football will be contested as an Olympic sport.

Parsons joins Dolphins star Tyreek Hill as the second active player to have shown interest in playing for Team USA’s flag football squad. In addition to expressing his desire, the All-Pro edge rusher urged other NFL stars to join the team.

“Me and Tyreek [Hill] gonna start it off and it’s just gonna be like that,” Parsons said on his podcast. “All of our guys should be on that team. We need Justin Jefferson out there, we need Ja’Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb. …We should run through everybody just like we do in wrestling and everything else.”

Beyond current players, former Patriots and Buccaneers star Rob Gronkowski expressed his interest to compete on the prior to the IOC approving the sport for the games in ’28.
