Giants’ Brian Daboll Sparks QB Controversy By Not Committing to Daniel Jones
The Giants halted a four-game losing skid Sunday, defeating the Commanders, 14—7, with Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. The veteran signal-caller was filling in for an injured Daniel Jones, who’s struggled for much of the 2023 NFL season thus far.
Following Taylor’s solid performance, Giants coach Brian Daboll was asked whether there is an argument for Taylor to remain the starter even when Jones becomes healthy. Daboll’s answer left the door wide open for a quarterback controversy and almost certainly will be a talking point over the next few days.
“I’ll just say Tyrod had a good game this game. He’s a true pro, and I’m glad we got him,” Daboll told reporters.
Taylor completed 18 of 29 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns without an interception Sunday. As for Jones, he’s thrown for just 884 yards over five games while throwing two touchdown passes and six interceptions.
The Giants (2—5) play the Jets (3—3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in MetLife Stadium.
