Jalen Ramsey Surprised By Reports That He Would Make His Season Debut on Sunday
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday that the Dolphins were “planning” for cornerback Jalen Ramsey to make his season debut on Sunday against the Patriots.
It appears that status upgrade was news to the veteran cornerback.
Ramsey took to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday to dispute Schefter’s report, expressing his surprise over the number of texts he received as a result of the update from the NFL insider.
“So this is why I just got a crazy amount of texts. Well, this is news to me … mfs don’t care about being right, they care about being first in today’s media. That’s sad,” wrote Ramsey in a direct response to Schefter’s post.
The 28-year-old then elaborated on his playing status for Sunday’s game against New England.
“Full transparency, there’s a CHANCE that I can play this Sunday, but that decision genuinely isn’t made yet so that is news to me just like it is to y’all lol,” wrote Ramsey in a separate post on X. “I have to go through a whole process to feel GREAT enough to play. I won’t play if I feel any less than GREAT.”
Ramsey has missed the first seven games of the regular season while recovering from offseason knee surgery. Ramsey had a procedure to repair a torn meniscus in his knee in late July.
After starting the season on IR, Ramsey’s 21-day practice window was opened last week.
Miami’s defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told reporters Thursday that Ramsey was “progressing well” in his recovery from the knee injury, but didn’t specify whether he’d be ready for Sunday’s tilt.
A six-time Pro Bowler, Ramsey had eight interceptions over the last two seasons and has recorded 32 pass defenses during that span.
