Raiders’ Jimmy Garoppolo to Start vs. Lions on ‘MNF’
Jimmy Garoppolo will return to the Raiders' starting lineup for their clash against the Lions on Monday Night Football, coach Josh McDaniels announced on Saturday.
McDaniels told reporters that Garoppolo is “good to go” and is eager to get the franchise “headed in the right direction” after the veteran quarterback did not play the Raiders’ 30–12 loss on the road to the Bears in Week 7. Garoppolo returns to the gridiron after suffering a scary back injury in the Raiders’ Week 6 matchup against the Patriots.
“I think he’s [Garoppolo] got a little pep in his step,” McDaniels told reporters, per NFL.com. “… He wants to get us headed in the right direction and start doing some things we haven’t been doing as well better.”
With Garoppolo returning, the Raiders “dodged a bullet” with his injury as the 31-year-old left Allegiant Stadium in an ambulance in the first half of Las Vegas’s game against New England on Oct. 15.
The Raiders (3–4) will seek to earn their fourth win of the season with Garoppolo back leading the offense. This season, Garoppolo has thrown for 1,079 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.
