Frustrated Davante Adams Spotted Slamming Helmet Late in Raiders' Loss to Lions
The Raiders' offense was disappointing during Monday night’s loss to the Lions, and star wide receiver Davante Adams couldn’t hide his frustrations along the sideline late in the game.
Toward the end of the fourth quarter, Adams was spotted by the broadcast looking infuriated. The 30-year-old ripped off his helmet and smashed it on the ground by the bench before taking a seat, where he put his head in his hands and stared down at the ground.
Las Vegas fell to 3-5 following the loss on Monday night, and Adams, who has been upfront about his frustrations with his role throughout the year, was clearly not pleased with the team’s performance.
Adams had just one catch for 11 yards in the loss, despite being targeted seven times by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. No player on the Raiders had more than two catches, and no single player topped 27 receiving yards.
This season, Adams has 47 receptions, 539 yards, and three touchdowns. It was the second game in the last three weeks in which he caught two or fewer passes. After breaking the 100-yard threshold in eight games last season, Adams has done so just once in 2023.
After the game, Adams voiced his frustrations with the team’s offensive struggles.
“I don’t know what to say at this moment. I truly don’t,” said Adams in part of his post-game comments, via Tashan Reed of The Athletic.
The Raiders are back on the field in Week 9 vs. the Giants.
