The Bears are signing pass rusher Montez Sweat to a four-year, $98 million extension with over $72 million guaranteed, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. Sweat is poised to earn a total of $105 million over the course of the deal.

Chicago traded a second-round pick to the Commanders for Sweat on Tuesday at the trade deadline to help upgrade its pass rush. At the time of the trade, Sweat was in the final year of his rookie deal and set to hit free agency at the end of the season.

A fifth-year pro out of Mississippi State, Sweat is having a productive season with 6 1/2 sacks in eight games. Through his career, Sweat has totaled 35 1/2 sacks and 197 tackles. Sweat is expected to make his Bears debut on Sunday against the Saints.
