Texans QB C.J. Stroud Perfectly Recaps Team’s Game-Winning Drive Against Buccaneers
C.J. Stroud has become the golden boy of the NFL thanks to an amazing rookie season. The No. 2 pick in April’s draft is one of the best players in the NFL at this moment and is coming off the best rookie performance ever by a quarterback, breaking the single-game record for the most passing yards ever by a player in his first season.
Stroud continued to impress after his miraculous fourth quarter game-winning drive against the Buccaneers Sunday when talking to reporters. After the 46-second scoring drive, he broke down every single play right down to Tank Dell’s 15-yard touchdown catch to win 39–37.
Stroud finished the game with 470 passing yards and five touchdowns to set the new all-time record for a rookie. Stroud is currently sitting at 2,270 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes to just one interception on the year. Through Week 9, he ranks seventh in passing yards and passing touchdowns, making this one of the best statistical rookie seasons in NFL history.
The 22-year-old will take the field against the Bengals defense Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
