Eagles star Jason Kelce made an appearance on Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Kickoff ahead of the prime-time clash between the Bears and Panthers, when the topic of his recent nomination for PEOPLE’s “Sexiest Man Alive” award was broached.

Host Charissa Thompson introduced Kelce, joking that she expected him to flake on the interview after being named one of the sexiest men alive.

The 36-year-old joked that it was about time he’d earned recognition for his handsomeness.

“Listen, I don’t know how this all happened, but it’s honestly just another day. My wife tells me all the time, I’m the sexiest man in the world, so I’ve been wondering what’s been taking so long for this nomination to happen,” said Kelce. “It’s been a whirlwind, it’s been fun. It’s a win for plus-sized, bearded men all over the world.”

Although PEOPLE gave the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” to Patrick Dempsey, Kelce was a finalist, and was thus named one of PEOPLE’s “Sexiest Men Alive.” Some of the other A-list finalists included the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Jamie Foxx, and Usher.

On Wednesday, Kelce responded to a social media post about his nomination, writing, “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,” on X.

During a recent interview on Sports Radio 94WIP, Kelce humbly joked that he wasn’t even the best looking person in his family, referencing his brother and Chiefs superstar tight end, Travis Kelce.

Kelce has been enjoying the moment and the publicity coming from the nod from PEOPLE, cracking plenty of jokes in the aftermath of his “Sexiest Man Alive” nomination.
