Chargers’ Brandon Staley Seemed to Snap at Reporter After Tough Loss to Packers
Chargers coach Brandon Staley has had a rough few weeks and at Sunday’s post-game press conference, things nearly boiled over.
Staley was speaking after Week 11’s 23–20 loss to the Packers, which saw Los Angeles give up a game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter. It was the Chargers’ second straight loss and fourth in their past six games.
After a reporter asked about Staley's role as the team's defensive play-caller, the Los Angeles coach responded sharply.
"I have full confidence in our way of playing," Staley said. "Full confidence in myself as the play-caller, in the way that we teach, in the way that we scheme. Full confidence in that. We've got to bring this group together and do it consistently."
“You can stop asking that question,” he added. “I am going to be calling the defenses. So we’re clear. So you don’t have to ask that again.”
The loss pushed the Chargers to 4–6 on the season and last place in the AFC West. Los Angeles is going to have to turn things around pretty soon to have any hope of making the postseason and with a game against the Ravens next week in primetime, the road doesn’t get any easier in the near future.
