Bill Belichick Had Very Blunt Three-Word Message About Rumor on His NFL Coaching Future
Bill Belichick is in unfamiliar territory this season.
With his Patriots being one of the worst teams in the NFL, he has been asked on several occasions about his job security in New England, and on Monday he faced another such question and gave a very blunt answer when confronted with a rumor started by ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky.
Orlovsky said he has heard that a potential breakup between Belichick and the Patriots was looming and the legendary coach’s next team is likely already determined during a Nov. 14 appearance on The Pat MacAfee Show. Orlovsky said he’s not a journalist, appearing to try to absolve himself of any backlash if the rumor turns out to be incorrect.
Belichick was specifically asked about Orlovsky’s comments and rumors that he already has his next team picked out Monday morning on WEEI-FM in Boston.
“Yeah, that’s ridiculous,” Belichick said after a long pause.
The Patriots currently have the worst record in the AFC at 2–9 and are coming off their fourth consecutive loss. New England plays host to the Chargers (4–7) at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
