Raiders Release CB Marcus Peters, per Report
The Raiders have released veteran cornerback Marcus Peters, according to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur.
Peters’s release comes after he was benched in the second half of the Raiders’ 31–17 loss to the visiting Chiefs on Sunday. Las Vegas interim head coach Antonio Pierce told reporters his decision to bench Peters was a “coach’s decision” and chose not to elaborate on the matter after the game.
The three-time Pro Bowler recorded an interception that was returned for a touchdown in the Raiders’ 26-14 road loss to the Lions on Oct. 30. In addition to the pick-six, Peters has tallied five passes defensed and 43 tackles in 12 games this season.
Peters was likely to earn $1.5 million in incentives from Las Vegas this season. However, the Raiders will save that compensation after releasing the 30-year-old, per Tafur. Prior to the Raiders, Peters played for the Chiefs from 2015 to ’17, Rams from ’18 to ’19 and Ravens from ’19 to ’22.
The Raiders also are releasing safety Roderic Teamer, Tafur reported.
