Dolphins to Sign Jason Pierre-Paul From Saints Practice Squad, Per Report
After losing pass rusher Jaelan Phillips in Week 12 to a torn Achilles, the AFC East-leading Dolphins are reportedly planning to bring in a two-time Super Bowl champion to help fill the void.
Miami is expected to sign defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul this week from the Saints’ practice squad to the club’s 53-man roster, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.
The report comes just two weeks after Pierre-Paul, 34, joined New Orleans after the former Giants and Buccaneers standout started the year as a free agent following a stint with the Ravens in 2022.
JPP’s brief run with the Saints saw him debut during a Week 12 loss to the Falcons, where he recorded two tackles across 17 snaps.
A native of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Pierre-Paul will now reportedly return to his home state to help bolster a formidable Dolphins defense that ranks third in the NFL in sacks (38.0). The 13-year veteran’s addition to the main roster will immediately place him in a position to help on the edge alongside Bradley Chubb, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Emmanuel Ogbah.
For his career, Pierre-Paul has logged 94.5 sacks and 631 tackles, earning three Pro Bowl nods, a first-team All-Pro selection, and Super Bowl rings with New York in 2011 and Tampa Bay in 2020.
