James Bradberry Responds to Deebo Samuel ‘Trash’ Comment Ahead of 49ers-Eagles
Eagles defensive back James Bradberry addressed 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel, calling him “trash” heading into Sunday’s clash between the two NFC foes.
“I don’t really necessarily like what he said,” Bradberry told reporters Wednesday. “I wish he’d use a better word to describe my play. But it is what it is. At the end of the day, all I can control is my work ethic and what I do.”
Samuel’s harsh criticism of Bradberry went viral after San Francisco lost to Philadelphia 31—7 in the 2023 NFC Championship Game. The receiver called Bradberry “trash” on the I Am Athlete podcast featuring former NFL stars LeSean McCoy, Brandon Marshall and Adam “Pacman” Jones.
Samuel followed up those comments several days later with a social media post after Bradberry was called for a crucial defensive holding penalty late in the Eagles’ 38–35 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
After 49ers practice Tuesday in Santa Clara, Calif., Samuel doubled down on his comments.
“I don’t regret nothing I said,” the receiver stated.
Bradberry, however, is putting the beef behind him and moving on to Sunday’s crucial matchup that could have big implications on the NFC playoff picture.
“Last year is last year,” Bradberry said Wednesday. “I think the extra motivation comes from them being a conference opponent. They’re a great team; it’ll be a big challenge for us.”
