Reduced to playing their fourth quarterback of the season, the Browns may be turning to a signal-caller who once steered a rival to a world championship.

Joe Flacco is taking reps for Cleveland as its first-team starting quarterback, according to a Wednesday afternoon report from Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Browns' current starting quarterback, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, remains in concussion protocol after Broncos linebacker Baron Browning knocked him out of Denver's 29-12 win Sunday.

Flacco, who will turn 39 in January, has not played this season. He started four games for the Jets in 2022, throwing five touchdowns against three interceptions.

Cleveland, currently sitting in sixth place in a crowded AFC, plays the Rams on Sunday.

Should he start for the Browns, Flacco would be the team's fourth starting quarterback of the season, joining Deshaun Watson, Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker.

Flacco is best known for leading the Ravens to victory over the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. Despite never making the Pro Bowl, his 42,320 passing yards rank 20th in NFL history.
