Rams head coach Sean McVay is once again in the media spotlight following a curious late-game decision.

After the odd decision to kick a meaningless field goal in the closing seconds of a Week 2 loss to the 49ers that affected the betting point spread, McVay was once again answering postgame questions following the team’s 36–19 win over Cleveland.

Coming out of the two-minute warning, leading 27–19, the Rams faced 2nd-and-goal from the Browns’ one-yard line. Out of timeouts, many believed McVay would have Matthew Stafford kneel twice and then kick a field goal with only seconds remaining.

Instead, McVay called a running play for Kyren Williams, who walked into the end zone to put the Rams ahead, 34–19.

Asked about the decision after the game, McVay joked that he opted to hand the ball to Williams because he was on his fantasy football team.

“Kyren’s on my fantasy team,” said a joking McVay.

“It’s a joke. I don’t really mean that. I’m kidding,” he quickly added.

After drawing the ire of sports bettors following the bad beat in Week 2, McVay earned the affection of fantasy football managers who had Williams in their Week 13 lineup.
