Nick Bosa Believes 49ers Created Jalen Hurts ‘Blueprint’ For Cowboys to Stop Eagles QB
Jalen Hurts has been one of the most difficult players to slow down during the 2023 NFL season.
The 49ers were effective in stopping him during their Week 13 win over the Eagles, and star defensive end Nick Bosa said that he’s hopeful the Cowboys can replicate their formula for success in their upcoming matchup on Sunday night.
Speaking to reporters after practice on Thursday, Bosa said he thinks San Francisco “put out the blueprint” on how stifle Hurts, particularly in the running game.
“Yeah, I mean, you see it on tape, though. Obviously, we put the blueprint out there. Hopefully the Cowboys watch the tape,” Bosa said when asked if Hurts had been figured out.
“We made Jalen stay in the pocket and escape outside instead of those B-gaps, and it paid off. Because Jalen is looking at the rush every play, so you just have to be disciplined and not give him that quick escape route where he can get to his guys quick.”
The 49ers managed to limit Hurts to 20 rushing yards on seven carries. Their rush defense was formidable in Week 13, holding Philadelphia, a top-10 rushing offense, to just 46 yards on the ground. It was just the second time this season Hurts had recorded 20 or fewer rushing yards.
Bosa is hopeful that Dallas can follow suit when the Cowboys host their division rivals. In their previous meeting, Hurts rushed 10 times for 36 yards and a touchdown.
