Eli Manning knows a thing or two about playing quarterback for the Giants.

Manning spent his entire career in Big Blue, winning two Super Bowl titles as the team’s starting quarterback. And as it turns out, he loves the way rookie Tommy DeVito has played since taking over under center in New York.

“Hey, they’re winning games,” Manning told Dan Duggan of The Athletic. “Three games in a row. He’s finding a way.”

Manning is particularly impressed by how DeVito has taken care of the football, especially considering the fact that he’s in his first NFL season.

“I think the most impressive thing, and I’ve talked to Tommy a little bit, is that he hasn’t turned the ball over. As a rookie quarterback, the easiest thing to do is throw an interception and make bad decisions. … He’s taking a lot of sacks, but that’s because he’s not forcing the ball, which is what you want to do.”

In six games this season, including four starts, DeVito has completed 65.9% of his passes for 855 yards and eight touchdowns to just three interceptions. He has also rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

New York sits at 5-8 on the season, but a wild card berth is not out of the question in a top heavy NFC. DeVito and the Giants are back in action on Sunday in New Orleans.
