Chargers fans are likely hoping Thursday night’s 63—21 loss to the Raiders was just a bad dream.

But the drubbing was, unfortunately, very real, as well as an embarrassing defeat to an AFC West division rival.

The blowout loss also did nothing to cool down the hot seat occupied by Los Angeles head coach Brandon Staley, who has come under fire mainly for his leadership of the underachieving Chargers defense, an area he was supposed to upgrade.

NFL fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and ripped Staley after the Thursday Night Football debacle.

After the game, Staley told the media that he thought he should still be the coach of the Chargers, and fans had a field day with that response.

In an attempt to defend his resume as head coach, Staley attempted to say that "games like this happen to every coach in the league." Fans were not buying it. This user brought up how Staley's Chargers blew a 27—0 lead to the Jaguars in the postseason last year, indicating this sort of losing has become a pattern.

But one of the best reactions came from ESPN First Take personality Shannon Sharpe, who suggested that Staley just stay behind in Las Vegas rather than return to Los Angeles as head coach of the Chargers.

Just a brutal night for Staley and Los Angeles fans.
