Lamar Jackson’s Incredible Throw to Isaiah Likely Left Jaguars Defender in Disbelief
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson showcased his unparalleled ability to keep a play alive on Sunday night against the Jaguars when he perfectly navigated a collapsed pocket to connect with Isaiah Likely for an improbable completion.
Jackson escaped what looked like a surefire sack from Jacksonville’s Dawuane Smoot before scrambling and throwing a heave downfield to Likely, taking a big hit in the process.
Likely spectacularly caught the pass in between to Jaguars defenders for a 26-yard gain.
As Jackson got back to his feet after getting knocked down by the relentlessly pursuing Smoot, the outside linebacker could be seen looking totally defeated and perplexed as to how the play turned into a big gain.
Smoot was on his knees and shaking his head in disbelief after Jackson’s display of mobility, and even appeared to ask the quarterback how he pulled it off.
Had Smoot been able to bring Jackson down, the Ravens would’ve been facing a difficult third-and-long situation. Instead, Gus Edwards was able to punch in a touchdown two plays later as Baltimore extended its lead to 10 in their eventual win that maintained their spot atop the AFC playoff picture.
