Pete Carroll Had Seahawks’ Locker Room Hyped With Postgame Speech After Win vs. Eagles
The Seahawks’ comeback 20–17 victory against the Eagles on Monday night kept the team in the NFC playoff race.
Backup quarterback Drew Lock led Seattle on a go-ahead 92-yard touchdown drive during the final two minutes of the game, and the team was overjoyed in the aftermath.
Back in the locker room, after Lock wrapped up a moving on-field interview with ESPN’s Lisa Salters, coach Pete Carroll delivered an incredible postgame speech, during which the 72-year-old was absolutely fired up.
Moments into his speech, Carroll abruptly raised his voice and darted across the room, asking his team, “Can you win in the first quarter? Can you win in the second quarter? Can you win in the third quarter?”
The team yelled, “No!” in response to each question.
Carroll then asked, “Can you win in the mother------- fourth quarter?” to which the team shouted in unity, “Yes!”
“You’ll always remember this Monday night,” Carroll said. “You made a great freakin’ memory. We hung all night long. We did it, fellas. We stayed with it. As the game went on we got better, we got cleaner, we got sharper.
“That’s big time. Big time freakin’ NFL football. It’s a great job. What that means going forward? It don’t matter right now. Let’s just enjoy the f--- out of this win right now and have a blast with it. I’m so freakin’ jacked, I’m so freakin’ jacked!”
Seattle scored just three points during the first half against Philadelphia on Monday night, but the Seahawks never abandoned the belief that they could battle back.
Although there’s still work to be done in order to secure a playoff berth, Carroll was thrilled with the effort in Week 15, and he let them know just how he felt after the win.
