The veteran QB didn’t quite take the remark as a compliment.

Matthew Stafford has played 15 seasons in the NFL. Yet he’s still relatively young at 35 years old, having begun his pro career when he was only 21.

However, the Rams quarterback was already an established veteran when Jake Fromm played at Georgia from 2017 to ’19. Four seasons into his NFL career, he’s only 25 years old.

Fromm surely intended to pay a compliment to his fellow Georgia QB when the two met before Week 15’s Commanders-Rams matchup. Stafford was probably an inspiration to Fromm, who was born and grew up in Georgia before going to Athens to play college football. But hearing “I grew up watching you” from another NFL player probably stung a bit.

NFL Films captured the moment for Inside the NFL. Check it out:

Stafford may have gotten “the old man treatment” from Fromm, as he put it. But he had a rather youthful performance against the Commanders, throwing for 258 yards and two touchdowns in leading Los Angeles to a 28–20 victory.

The Rams kick off Week 16 with a Thursday night matchup with the Saints. Stafford is probably in no danger of feeling his age if he meets up with Derek Carr or Jameis Winston during pregame warmups.
