Aaron Judge Stunned Tommy DeVito With Classy Surprise Gesture at NYC Restaurant
Even after skyrocketing to fame, New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito still shares the very relatable feeling of being awestruck in the presence of sports superstars.
The New Jersey native recently went out for dinner in New York City and recounted the surreal experience of dining next to Yankees slugger Aaron Judge.
DeVito told FOX Sports’ Peter Schrager ahead of the Giants' matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16: “Two nights ago, I went out to dinner in the city, and at the table next to me was Aaron Judge. I saw him out of the corner of my eye but I didn’t want to go say ‘Hello’ yet, so I waited for the end of dinner.”
DeVito continued, “I went to go pay, and the waiter had come over and said Aaron tried to pay for your tab. And then I was like, ‘This guy knows who I am?’”
Compared to Judge, DeVito has some ways to go before becoming a household name. Whereas the 2022 AL MVP secured a $360 million contract to keep him in New York for roughly the next decade, DeVito is still working to earn a lucrative payday.
The undrafted rookie has a 3–2 record as the Giants’ starter this season, throwing for 1,032 yards and recording eight touchdowns against three interceptions. DeVito seems to have settled in nicely in the Big Apple, even if his Italian background sometimes gets overplayed in the national media.
The legend of Tommy DeVito will continue to grow if the Giants can upset the Eagles on Monday.
