Chiefs’ Miserable Day vs. Raiders Perfectly Summarized by Unfortunate Sideline Moment
Everybody has one of those days. The Kansas City Chiefs’ day just happened to be on Christmas against a fiercely hated division rival.
In Week 16’s festive matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Chiefs’ offense has been anything but merry.
Patrick Mahomes and his ragtag team of wideouts generated negative yardage in the first quarter and struggled to find their groove through the second half of the game. Not to mention the offense had two critical turnovers in the second quarter that led to a pair of Raiders’ defensive touchdowns.
To make matters worse, Chiefs running back Isaiah Pacheco suffered a head injury during the game and is questionable to return.
In a perfect analogy for Kansas City’s current woes, Pacheco fell through the trainer’s table when he was getting looked at on the sidelines.
The 2022 seventh-rounder had his helmet yanked off during a play in the second half and got kicked in the head. As he was sitting on the athletic trainer’s table for further examination, the table inexplicably broke beneath him.
First, falling ceilings. Now, broken tables. What’s next?
The Chiefs did not experience a Christmas miracle to mount a successful comeback against the Raiders. Mahomes threw a late touchdown pass to Justin Watson, but the defense couldn’t come up with a stop with nearly three minutes remaining.
Kansas City ultimately lost, 20–14, to drop their record to 9–6. Las Vegas improved to 7–8 and may have clinched the permanent head coaching job for Antonio Pierce.
