Giants’ Brian Daboll Mum on Starting QB Following Tommy DeVito Benching
Following a first half that saw the New York Giants muster just 101 yards of offense and three points in Monday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, coach Brian Daboll benched starting QB Tommy DeVito in favor of Tyrod Taylor in an attempt to jumpstart the unit.
The Giants scored 22 points in the second half with Taylor under center. He finished with a 7-of-16 passing line for 133 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
“I’m just worried about [Monday] here,” Daboll said, when asked whether the QB change was permanent. “We’ll talk about that here this week.”
DeVito, meanwhile, said the coaches told him they were making the switch to jumpstart the offense.
“It’s tough. It’s just a constant reminder that it’s a business,” DeVito said. “They’re always going to try to find someone to replace you, wherever it is. …We’re going to work, watch the film, and do all that. At the end of the day, it’s not me or Tyrod’s decision, it’s the coaches’.”
New York fell to 5-10 on the season and hosts the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday.
