The Seattle Seahawks’ victory in Week 18 over the Arizona Cardinals wasn’t enough to land them in the playoffs, but the vibes in the locker room were mostly positive after the regular season finale.

After the game, some Seahawks players were seen smoking celebratory cigars in the locker room, prompting some fans and media members to question why they were in such high spirits after missing the postseason.

In response to a social media post from Gregg Bell of The News Tribune, safety Julian Love shined some light on the situation, posting on X to inform people that the cigars were a celebration of the birth of his son.

“Insinuating that we’re celebrating not making playoffs is weak Gregg. These cigars were given to me to celebrate the birth of my son & I waited until the end of the season to share a moment with my guys,” wrote Love on X.

Love and his wife Julia welcomed a son, Noah, on Dec. 22, 2022, just two days before Seattle’s win against the Titans on Dec. 24.

In Bell’s initial post, the reporter wrote, “Cigars—but not playoffs—in Seahawks’ locker room after last-game rally win at Arizona.”

The star safety clarified that the group was by no means celebrating the end of their season, but rather sharing a special moment to commemorate the birth of Love’s first child.
