It’s safe to say Hall of Fame tight end and popular sports analyst, Shannon Sharpe, wasn’t a fan of Jameis Winston running up the score on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Winston told reporters postgame that it was a “team decision” to ignore coach Dennis Allen’s calls to take a knee to instead punch in another touchdown in the closing seconds of the Saints' blowout win over Atlanta. But lining up in “victory formation” with the defense conceding and instead pushing forward for a Jamaal Williams touchdown rubbed Sharpe the wrong way, who wants the Saints to take swift action in response.

“I would cut Jameis Winston today. I would not want him on my team. That’s loser’s mentality,” Sharpe said.

Sharpe also believes the play is a sign that Allen’s tenure as head coach should end.

“Dennis Allen is going to probably have to go because his players have no respect for him,” Sharpe said.

Sharpe said that if he had been a player on the Saints, he would have jumped offsides to stop the team from ignoring their coach and running up the score.

“There’s a mentality that you gotta have if you want to play winning football,” Sharpe said. “Jameis Winston has a loser’s mentality.”
