Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson endured a disappointing rookie season, as he only played in four games before suffering a season-ending injury. Without Richardson, the Colts finished the season 9-8 but came up just short of reaching the postseason, losing to the Houston Texans when they had a chance to clinch a playoff berth.

Richardson spoke on Thursday for the first time since the season ended, and he clearly was upset he was injured for the majority of the season. When asked what he missed most this year due to the injury, Richardson offered the perfect response.

“The playoffs,” he said, via James Boyd of The Athletic.

The Colts made Richardson the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL draft, and the 21-year-old won the starting job in training camp. However, he dealt with multiple injuries to start his pro career, including damage to the AC joint in his right shoulder that required season-ending surgery.

During his rookie season, Richardson totaled 577 passing yards with three touchdown passes and one interception, along with 136 rushing yards and four touchdown runs. Veteran backup Gardner Minshew filled in admirably for Richardson, leading the Colts to the cusp of a playoff berth.

Richardson said he will start throwing again soon, a good sign for his recovery.
