Eagles’ A.J. Brown to Miss Wild-Card Game vs. Bucs, per Report
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown will miss Monday night’s wild-card matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a sprained right knee, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. If the Eagles defeat the Buccaneers, Brown could return for the divisional round next weekend, according to Schefter.
Brown suffered the injury in the first half of the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the New York Giants, and he missed each of Philadelphia’s first two practices this week as he rehabilitates the knee. Conversely, quarterback Jalen Hurts, who’s dealing with a dislocated finger, was a full participant in Friday’s practice after being limited on Thursday.
Without Brown, the Eagles likely will rely more heavily on DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert to carry the pass-catching load. Depth receivers Quez Watkins, Olamide Zaccheaus and Julio Jones also could see an increased workload.
Brown has enjoyed a strong season, totaling 1,456 receiving yards on 106 receptions, on his way to a Pro Bowl selection.
Kickoff between the Eagles (11–6) and Bucs (9–8) is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET Monday at Raymond James Stadium. The television broadcast is on ESPN and ABC.
