The Michigan coach is reportedly set to meet with the team this week.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is set to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers this week regarding their coaching vacancy just a week after leading the Wolverines to a national championship, according to the Associated Press.

In the weeks leading up to the title game against Washington, Harbaugh repeatedly dodged questions about rumors he’d return to the NFL and specifically the Chargers.

Harbaugh coached the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014 and led them to a Super Bowl appearance after the 2012 season, ultimately losing to the Baltimore Ravens. Harbaugh, 60, also has longstanding connections with the Chargers and the Spanos family that owns it. He played for the team for two seasons before retiring in 2001.

The franchise fired both coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco on Dec. 15 and finished the year with a 5–12 record. Over the last nine seasons at Michigan, Harbaugh has an 89-25 record.
