Bears to Interview Kliff Kingsbury for NFL Role As Caleb Williams Decision Looms
USC quarterback Caleb Williams is a surefire top three pick in April’s NFL draft, and is a strong candidate to be the first player off the board when the Chicago Bears make their selection, should they hold on to the No. 1 pick.
What better way to usher Williams into the NFL than to bring his quarterback coach from college into the fold? The Bears are set to interview USC offensive analyst and quarterback coach Kliff Kingsbury for the franchise’s offensive coordinator job, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Bears have yet to make quarterback Justin Fields available in trade talks, but a hire of Kingsbury could indicate that Chicago is interested in taking Williams when they’re on the clock with the top pick in April.
Prior to joining Lincoln Riley’s staff at USC last season, Kingsbury spent 2019-22 as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Kingsbury has previously held a head coaching role at the college level as well, leading the Texas Tech program from 2013-18 before making the jump to the NFL with the Cardinals.
Kingsbury’s interview with Chicago could be telling with the franchise’s future plans at quarterback, and should be followed closely over the coming days.
