49ers’ Brock Purdy Had to Wipe His Hand Mid-Play Due to Rainy Conditions vs. Packers
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had better hope he is never traded to the Seattle Seahawks, or to Brazil.
Rain, as a concept, has not been Purdy's friend throughout an otherwise charmed sophomore season. First, during the 49ers' surprising 19-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 15, the signal-caller struggled mightily to a rainy one-touchdown, one-interception day.
Then, on Saturday, Purdy appeared to struggle at times gripping the football during San Francisco's wet 24-21 win over the Green Bay Packers in an NFC divisional round game.
In fact, Fox's cameras captured Purdy wiping off his hand at one point while dropping back to pass.
Despite his struggles, Purdy finished the evening having completed 23 of 39 pass attempts for 252 yards and a touchdown.
Even better news for the Iowa State product: Sunday in Santa Clara, Calif. is expected to be 73 degrees and partly cloudy when the 49ers host the Detroit Lions or Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC title game.
