In an attempt to move past a shoddy end to the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles appear to be turning to a former division rival to guide their offense.

The Eagles are hiring Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the same position, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer confirmed Saturday.

Sports Radio 94 WIP reporter Howard Eskin first reported the news.

Moore, 35, shepherded Los Angeles’s offense through a subpar season. The Chargers finished 21st in scoring offense and 18th in total offense, their lowest ranking in the former since 2019 and the latter since ’14.

Before that, Moore spent four years running the Dallas Cowboys' offense. Only in 2020, when quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a catastrophic injury in October, did the Cowboys finish outside the top 10 scoring offense under Moore.

Philadelphia’s offense was previously led by Brian Johnson, who was dismissed on Monday—a week after the Eagles lost 32–9 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an NFC wild card game.

Like Johnson, Moore was an accomplished college quarterback, finishing in the top 10 of the Heisman voting three times at Boise State.
