Detroit Lions defensive back undefined is a master of trash talk. But sometimes even the best at that craft do something they regret later.

The Lions took a 20–7 lead over San Francisco late in the first half on a 15-yard touchdown run by Jahmyr Gibbs. As kicker Michael Badgley lined up for the extra-point attempt, the Fox Sports broadcast panned to Gardner-Johnson, who was on the Lions’ sideline appearing to wave goodbye to the 49ers Faithful in Santa Clara, Calif.

The Lions actually went on to take a 24–7 lead before the break, but it wasn’t enough as San Francisco stormed back in the second half to win 34–31.

While Detroit’s Super Bowl hopes faded away, that video of Gardner-Johnson will live on.
