Ravens’ Marlon Humphrey Shades Bill Belichick After Failure to Get Another NFL Job
The Washington Commanders hiring Dan Quinn as their next head coach on Thursday means that all 32 NFL teams have that position filled for the 2024 NFL season. Therefore Bill Belichick, widely regarded as the greatest coach of all time, is left without a job for the first time in 50 years.
While Belichick’s résumé speaks for itself, as he has the most Super Bowl wins of any coach with six, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey believes Belichick’s failure to get a job is proof that maybe he isn’t the best to ever do it.
“The ‘greatest coach of all time’ did not get hired out of six [sic] head coaching jobs open,” Humphrey said on social media. “I think that debate can be put to rest now.”
Belichick only interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons open job, but they decided to hire Raheem Morris instead. While Belichick seems to want to continue coaching after leaving the Patriots, none of the seven other teams that hired a new head coach this year favored him.
Humphrey did not say who he believes the best coach ever is, but it’s clear he thinks the public overrated Belichick despite all of his accomplishments.
