The San Francisco 49ers have enjoyed a charmed ride to Super Bowl LVIII.

They romped to the NFC West title, overcoming a three-game midseason losing skid to claim the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed with a 12–5 record. They punched their ticket to the Big Game by rallying furiously from a 17-point deficit to beat the Detroit Lions in the NFC championship game.

Next up: The mighty Kansas City Chiefs, who are appearing in their fourth Super Bowl in five seasons. Given the Chiefs’ extensive playoff success in recent years, some fans might be surprised to learn that the 49ers are 1.5-point favorites over Kansas City.

Nevertheless, the 49ers seemed to play the underdog card with a social media post Friday. The tweet featured the phrase “against all odds” above a highlight montage from the NFC title game.

Fans and pundits were quick to point out that the 49ers have been favored in all 20 of their games this season, including Super Bowl LVIII.
