The Las Vegas Raiders hired former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy this week to take on the same role.

Raiders coach Antonio Pierce gave an unfiltered answer when explaining what moment made him realize Getsy was a tough coach to compete against.

“He whupped our a-- when we played [the Bears],” Pierce said, via The Athletic’s Vic Tafur. “Who was their quarterback? I don’t know. Who was their running back? I don’t know. But they still beat us pretty good.”

The game Pierce referenced was the 30–12 loss to the Bears in Week 7. Pierce was still Las Vegas’ linebackers coach, but it’s clear the game made an impact on him when searching for his next offensive coordinator.

Bears starter Justin Fields was out during the game, so backup Tyson Bagent was the quarterback Pierce could not recall. Running back D’Onta Foreman led the game with 89 rushing yards and two scores.

Getsy has coached a total of nine NFL seasons, with his previous experiences being with the Green Bay Packers and the Bears. He also coached eight seasons in college football.
