The NFL has been awash in conspiracy theories for decades, as dejected bettors and disgruntled fans have tried to make sense of results on the field that they can’t comprehend.

One of the wildest theories that circulated this season posited that the Super Bowl LVIII logo colors pointed to a predetermined matchup in the Big Game.

Some cynical observers noted that Super Bowl LVI’s logo included orange and blue colors for a game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams. Then, Super Bowl LVII’s logo included red and green, which coincidentally matched up nicely for the Kansas City ChiefsPhiladelphia Eagles tilt.

Conspiracy theorists then pointed to the red and purple logo of Super Bowl LVIII as a sign that the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens had been preselected to battle for the league title.

The Chiefs officially crushed that theory by beating the Ravens in the AFC championship game. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, both are extremely happy the theory has been debunked.

“Best thing to come outta championship weekend is the death of the Super Bowl logo conspiracy,” Jason Kelce said on the latest episode of the podcast. “It has been officially debunked, so way to go. Thanks guys for debunking something that was meaningless and stupid from the beginning.”

“So f------ dumb,” Travis Kelce agreed.

The Chiefs will face the 49ers on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
