Jared Goff Rewards Lions’ Offensive Line With Clever $11K Gifts
Quarterback Jared Goff had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023, leading the Detroit Lions to their best finish in 32 years.
Yet neither Goff nor the Lions would have enjoyed such success without the outstanding performance of their offensive line. With that set of blockers up front, Detroit finished with the NFL’s third-best offense. Pro Football Focus ranked the Lions’ offensive line as the second-best unit in the league.
To reward his guys for their accomplishments, Goff gave each of the team’s offensive linemen a Breitling watch worth $11,500. In a clever play on his first name, the quarterback partnered with the jeweler Jared, who approached the quarterback this week in Las Vegas after a season during which many Lions fans cheered and held up signs saying “We went to Jared,” riffing off the company’s famous slogan.
As Goff explained in a video posted to social media, the luxury timepieces went to Taylor Decker, Jonah Jackson, Frank Ragnow, Graham Glasgow, and Penei Sewell, in addition to reserves Dan Skipper, Kayode Awisoka and Colby Sorsdal.
“From Jared, by Jared,” as Goff said in the video.
Goff got one of those Breitling watches for himself, along with 10 more to be passed out as gifts, according to WWD. Eight of those went to his offensive linemen.
So what about those other two watches? Maybe head coach Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will be getting some luxury gifts as well.
