Bears’ DJ Moore Firmly Backs Justin Fields as Draft Speculation Swirls
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore is making it abundantly clear where he stands on the team’s quarterback situation.
Amid swirling rumors that the Bears could select a signal-caller with the No. 1 pick of the 2024 NFL draft, Moore said he values quarterback Justin Fields above all prospects.
“I still don’t think they compare to Justin right now,” Moore told NFL Total Access of the quarterbacks in this year’s draft class.
Moore went on to describe how he bonded with Fields in his first year with the Bears after being acquired in a trade from the Carolina Panthers.
“The relationship jelled real well from the beginning,” Moore said of Fields on Monday. “Since I got traded, he was in contact, and we started throwing together, so it made the transition into games and everything easy.”
Moore wasted little time getting himself situated in Chicago. In his sixth NFL season, Moore recorded career-highs across the board in receptions (96), receiving yards (1,364) and touchdown catches (eight).
As observers break down the game film of USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and other top quarterback prospects, Moore apparently is only looking at one signal-caller.
Moore’s comment echoes what he said of Fields in December: “He’s a dynamic player, dynamic quarterback. I mean, we want him here. I’ve been having a great year with him, so that should speak volumes. I just leave what they do (in the front office) upstairs at the end of the day.”
Fields, the No. 11 pick by the Bears in the 2021 NFL draft out of Ohio State, is coming off a solid campaign in which he threw for 2,562 yards and recorded 16 touchdown passes against nine interceptions.
