Commanders, TE Zach Ertz Agree to One-Year Contract, per Report
After three years away, tight end Zach Ertz appears to be heading back to the NFC East.
Ertz has agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders worth up to $5 million, according to a Wednesday morning report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The 33-year-old spent 2021 to ’23 with the Arizona Cardinals.
With the Cardinals, Ertz played under coach Kliff Kingsbury for parts of two seasons. The Commanders hired Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator on Feb. 5.
Ertz caught 27 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown in seven games in 2023. Arizona waived him on Nov. 30, at which point he was on the injured reserve with a quadriceps injury.
The former All-American at Stanford is best known for his years with the Philadelphia Eagles, with whom he made the Pro Bowl every year from 2017 to ’19. He won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles in ’17, and registered his only 1,000-yard receiving season a year later.
