Joe Mixon Signs Contract Extension With Texans After Bengals Trade, per Report
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon agreed to a three-year, $27 million extension with the team, Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz first reported on Thursday.
The deal includes $13 million guaranteed, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Mixon is poised to earn $10 million in his first year there.
Mixon was traded to the Texans from the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday after it was first reported that the Bengals were going to release the running back. Mixon spent the past seven years in Cincinnati.
The 27-year-old rushed for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns this past season.
The Texans lost their starting running back when Devin Singletary agreed to terms with the New York Giants, so all signs point to Mixon leading the backfield in 2024.
Mixon will play with quarterback C.J. Stroud, who is coming off an impressive NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year season in Houston.
