Bears Receiver Keenan Allen Links Up With Caleb Williams at USC Pro Day
When the Chicago Bears traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, it fully cleared the way for the franchise to potentially select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the top pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
As the Bears inch closer to making that pick, members of the franchise’s front office, as well as newly acquired wide receiver Keenan Allen, attended Williams’s Pro Day at USC on Wednesday.
Allen, who still lives in Los Angeles from his time with the Chargers, made sure to swing by Williams’s workout to support the quarterback prospect who is likely to become his new teammate.
Williams spoke about linking up with Allen after he finished his Pro Day outing, which aired on NFL+.
“That was great,” he said, per Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Chicago. “I’ve known Keenan for a little bit now, hung out. He was at the Chargers. Now he’s at the Bears, he’s here for a fourth round pick, which is crazy. He’s a beast, a good guy, and he can give you a lot of knowledge.”
In a quarterback class that features several prominent prospects, the former Heisman Trophy winner Williams stands alone.
In his three college seasons, which featured one year at Oklahoma and the final two at USC, Williams completed 66.9% of his passes for 10,082 yards and 93 touchdowns to 14 interceptions. He also added 966 yards and 27 scores on the ground.
Expect big things out of Williams when he arrives in the NFL next fall, with plenty of targets on the horizon for the veteran Allen if the Bears decide to make him their franchise quarterback.
