Veteran Linebacker Randy Gregory Agrees to Sign With Buccaneers
In an effort to shore up their defense, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are adding a seasoned veteran.
The Buccaneers announced Wednesday that they have agreed to sign 31-year-old linebacker Randy Gregory.
Gregory spent 2023 with the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers. The Nebraska product recorded 3.5 sacks in 16 games.
Entering his 10th year in the league, Gregory is best known for his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys. He registered 16.5 sacks in five years with the Cowboys from 2015 to '21.
Gregory incurred a quartet of suspensions in Dallas for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The first and second, in 2016, cost him all but two games of his second season. The third and fourth punishments, in 2017 and 2019, forced season-long absences.
The Buccaneers, long renowned as a defensive team, finished 23rd in the NFL last season in total defense—their lowest rank in that category since 2018.
