Eagles, Packers to Square Off in Historic Week 1 Friday Night Game in Brazil
The NFL's International Series will head to Sao Paolo, Brazil this fall for the first time, with a Week 1 game in South America. The league announced the plans for the game in early December, but the matchup had not been revealed.
The matchup has now been set.
The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Green Bay Packers in a tilt between NFC contenders to open the NFL season on Friday, Sept. 6. The game will be broadcast exclusively on Peacock.
The game will be played in Neo Quimica Arena, the home of Brazilian soccer club SC Corinthians. The venue holds just under 50,000 people.
Once the game takes place this fall, the NFL will have played on five of the seven continents across the world, as commissioner Roger Goodell continues to leave a legacy of expanding the game internationally. Only Africa and Antarctica have yet to hold NFL matchups.
